Welcome Back! Well, this week I thought we could discuss airports!! Yes, I said airports. But to more particular airport security check points. Now, this post is not about TSA, but what we as consumers can do to make this process smoother.
Get there EARLY!
I am not saying you have to arrive 5 hours ahead of your flight. But don't get to the airport 30 minutes before your flight and expect other travels who arrived early to part the seas to get you to your on time.
I am not saying that I am I always get to the airport 2 hours before my flight, but you best believe I am through no later than 1.5 hours prior to my flight. And I am there 2 hours prior for International flights. Why? Because you never know what you may find. And living in the city of the busiest airport, I don't want to take any chances. It only took missing one flight for that lesson to be learned. Never again! I ended spending the entire morning waiting for another flight. Luckily, the Airline Agent was compassionate and I didn't pay as much as I had imagined for the next flight. It was minimal, but the time it took was a killer!
Be prepared...
As walk the winding rows towards our final) throughout your posts to reach more people. Why hashtag? People capn use your hashtags to search through content on your blog and find the content that matters to them. So go ahead and on my phone I have my boarding pass already in my wallet. I so love the smart phone!
This little step saves time. I don't have to try and get my wallet out of my purse, pull my ID out while walking. While trying to make sure I don't walk over the person in front of me or hold up the line. I pull the ID out of my pocket when I have two people left in front of me and get my phone ready to scan the boarding pass.
This will keep the line moving and a side note is to have your head phones handy. I like to listen to music as I go through the line. This way if there is a small wait, I can enjoy my favorite tunes versus watching the line not move. No need to get frustrated. I just tap my feet and bomb head to the Latin beats that are filling my ears! It helps time pass faster.
Pay Attention...
With the new system it can be a bit on confusing. No longer do you wait in line for a bin. You wait for an open spot. So keep an eye out as it wont necessarily be the last one. It could be at the first or somewhere in the middle. And yes, everything goes in a bin. Even your carry on. And wait your turn to push it over. Then it's off to go through the scanner. Side note #2, if you have bracelets, specifically sterling silver that are heavy, take them off if you are going through the metal detector versus the X-ray scanner. And whatever you do don't where any tops with that shiny metal threading. I had this gorgeous sweater that a bit of a shimmer in the material and it lit up the X-ray scanner like a Christmas tree. Needless to say, I won't be wearing it to the airport again!
Finally, Enjoy the flight...
Now, it's time to find your gate and relax until, it's boarding time. So, sit back enjoy your favorite cup of Joe or Iced beverage. Your one step closer to reaching your final destination!!!
